Workflows are high-level task coordination mechanisms. They are composed of several InlineScript blocks that run as a single unit and can import modules and run commands. These commands can be called individually or as a group. The InlineScript block should perform initial setup tasks. For example, it might be useful to run the command "refresh".

Workflows can be executed as commands or as jobs, which can be managed by using -Job cmdlets. These cmdlets also let you pause and resume a workflow job. Workflows can be configured to work with a series of parameters, including $PSComputerName, which corresponds to remote connectivity options.
Workflows are useful for automating tasks that require remote execution. For example, you can use powershell remoting to run tasks across several machines. The suspend and checkpoint systems in workflows are useful for maintenance tasks. The result of these tasks is usually recorded on an output object. In addition, you can use workflows to count occurrences of a given event.
Workflows are also useful for managing multidevice environments. They can automatically apply tasks to hundreds of managed nodes. You can even use workflows to automate complex end-to-end processes, as they can be composed of multiple scripts or commands. Moreover, you can view the status of the workflow at any time.
